After a good day 3 for England ,on Day 4 Joe Root and Oli Pope made a cautious start to innings as the pitch was wet due to rain and the ball coming with low odd bounce making difficult for both batsmen.After a hour both batsmen looked comfartable where Joe root reached to his 150 before lunch.
After lunch Pope reached his maiden first Test fifty after driving santner through the point.And Root at other end reached to his third double hundered which is his first in overseas and first overseas player to hit double hundered in New zealand.
Then soon after drinks, Pope was gone for Wagner’s short ball then soon Root fell for Santner finishing on 226(441) and England had lost three wickets for five runs. Then Archer was bowled out by Wagner after hitting a six and then Wagner scalped Broad as his fifth wicket and England finished their innings with a lead of 101 runs.
New Zealand made a shaky start to their innings where both the openers were sent back early in the innings then came experienced duo defending the ball to make sure no more damage before the end of the day with 96/2.
