India’s all-round show in 2nd ODI levelled the series at Rajkot.
Australia after winning the toss yet again decided to chase in flat pitch. Australia went unchanged after the dominant performance in first ODI and India were forced to make changes as injured Pant was replaced by Manish Pandey and Navdeep Saini repalcing Shardhul Thakur.
India has made decent start with the bat after they were forced to bat Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma striking the ball well from both the ends, but only until Rohit Sharma was trapped leg before by Adam Zampa.
Then India’s finest no.3 Kohli entered the arena started of his innings with his trade mark cover drive and at the other end Dhawan reaching his fifty, started taking on the Australian bowlers, also made a hundred run partnership between them.
But Dhawan fell four short his hundred when he pulled the slower short ball straight to Starc .Either Shreyas Iyer did not survive long as he was bowled out by Zampa for 7 runs. Then Virat Kohli after reaching his fifty changed the gears scoring two consecutive boundaries in next two balls but yet again gave his wicket to Zampa while trying to accelerate, then at other end Kl Rahul looked flamboyant scoring a crucial 80 off 50 balls and helped India to set a target of 340.
Australia at the start of their innings lost the Warner courtesy Manish Pandey who took a blinder then followed by Finch while trying to take on Jadeja. Then debutant Labuschagne joined Steve Smith, both stitched a brilliant partnership making singles and doubles at ease with odd boundaries maintaining the run rate and looked like taking game away from India.
But Jadeja bought the break through and Carey came to join Smith looked comfortable but fell for the ploy of Kuldeep Yadav as his 100th ODI wicket and also Steve Smith followed him in the same over as fell 2 runs short of his hundred.
And that was game set for India as Shami picked two in two and Bumrah finished the things off to comfortable win of 36 runs and set for a decider in Bengaluru.
